Worcester Bosch has given a response to the Green Home Grant which was recently announced by the UK government.

Following details in the recent UK Government update on the Green Home Grant that confirmed that boiler work will not be included in the scheme, Martyn Bridges, Worcester Bosch’s Director of Technical Communication and Product Management commented; “Although we will support any scheme that tries to improve the efficiency of homes in the UK, the fact that upgrading a boiler is not included in this grant is an oversight. There are up to six million non-condensing boilers still in operation and so upgrading to a high efficiency condensing boiler would make a significant improvement to many homes.

“Another concern is that tradespeople must be Trust Mark or MCS accredited registered companies in order to undertake the work. The overwhelming majority of the heating installation businesses we work with are not members as they are small, one-person businesses. Therefore, whilst we will end up with more efficient properties, there will be no job retention outcome for the businesses that cannot take advantage of this new grant.”

“However, we are pleased to see that if one of the primary measures has been installed then a secondary measure would be eligible for match funding. The secondary measures do include smart controls which will add efficiency savings to a property.”
