Why Might I Want To Programme Hot Water Times?

Worcester’s wall-hung Greenstar combi boilers feature a ‘domestic hot water preheating’ function. When it is turned on, the time it takes to get hot water from a tap is reduced as the boiler keeps hot in readiness. If it is turned off, the boiler only ignites to heat the water when the tap is opened. This means getting hot water to the tap takes a little longer but energy is been saved by not keeping the boiler heated. But why might I want to programme hot water times?

Why might I want to programme hot water times with my combi boiler?

The pre-heat function is controlled pressing the ‘ECO’ button on the front of the boiler.

ECO lit in green = energy-saving economy mode. Preheat is turned off, and there will be a slight increase in the time for hot water to be delivered.

ECO unlit = comfort mode. Preheat is on, and there is a quicker response to hot water demand.

Programming the times for your hot water

Instead of managing the pre-heat manually, a digital programmer may be fitted which provides you with the ability to programme pre-heat times so you can make sure you have hot water when there is peak demand (for example when getting ready to leave the house in the morning) and to switch it off at times of lower demand.
