What Type of Showers Will Work Best With a Combi Boiler?
Combi boilers are very popular because of their compact dimensions and energy efficiency. However, some homeowners have concerns over whether a new combi boiler will work with their showers.
What type of Showers Will Work Best with a Combi Boiler?
This guide gives you information about different types of showers to help you determine which type is best suited to your heating system.
What is a combi boiler?
A combi boiler is a central heating system that provides heating and hot water through a single unit. No tanks or cylinders are required. Combi boilers deliver a high level of water pressure (as long as your incoming cold water pressure is good enough), which, paired with a suitable shower, delivers great performance.
Types of showers
There are three main types of shower:
Electric showers
These showers use an electric heating element to heat cold water directly from the mains.
Mixer showers (Thermostatic & Manual)
Mixer showers connect to your hot and cold water supplies and then mix the water inside the unit. Thermostatic mixer showers can keep the water at a constant temperature as they have a thermostatic valve so they can be a safer option.
Power shower
Similar to mixer showers, power showers feed off of both the cold and hot water supplies. They have a built-in pump to boost water pressure and make showering more satisfying. They are well-suited to homes with low water pressure but usually fed from a feed tank.
Choosing a Suitable Showerhead
Selecting the right shower head is equally important to get your shower working effectively. There are a number of different types, including:
- Hand-held shower heads
- RV shower heads
- LED shower heads
- Dual showerheads
- Filtered shower heads
- Shower panels
- Low-pressure shower heads
- High-pressure showerheads
- Rain showerheads
You should ask an expert plumber to find out which shower head is best suited to your combi boiler.
