We were recently called out to a customer’s property where the customer reported a foul smell and water seeping through the tiles behind the toilet.

The pipework for the toilet was tiled in so we had to carefully remove a couple of tiles in order to expose the offending pipe.  Upon exposing the soil pipe connection at the rear of the toilet we were surprised to find the toiler pan connector wasn’t secured & sealed correctly onto the pan as shown in the photo.  Having gained additional access to the soil pipe we found that the pan connector that had been fitted was incorrectly fitted.  We proceeded to remove the offending part and replaced it with a suitable pan connector.

Upon completion we tested it – the customer could no longer smell any nasty smell and was no longer going to have wastewater damage from the toilet.
