Just cut a lemon in two and rub it over your stainless steel. For a little extra cleaning power, sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on the area before you rub it with the lemon. Then wipe over with a soft cloth. Gleaming citrus-fresh surfaces!

Prevention is better than cure: get into the habit of removing surface dirt with a rinse and wipe every day.

• You can tackle tough stains on tiles or doors with a mixture of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda

You can remove the toughest stains that have built up in your shower by making a paste of bicarbonate of soda plus a little water, spreading it over the stains and then covering them with cling film for at least 24 hours. Finally, rinse it away and thoroughly wipe the tiles with a damp cloth. To finish, dry them completely.
