• How do you use hot water? Do you regularly need to supply hot water to more than one tap or shower at once? Do you have a pumped power shower, or plan to have one in future?
• Choosing a combi boiler has many benefits, saving space in the loft and airing-cupboard being the obvious one, but combi boilers are not usually compatible with showers that have an electric pump.
• Are your hot water requirements consistent all year round? Make sure to say if you regularly have people staying over.
• What home improvements are planned? Your installer needs to know if you’re adding an extension, converting the loft or fitting solar panels. A new bathroom and under-floor heating significantly affect your boiler needs.
• Are you having issues with your current system?
• Is there a particular brand of boiler you want? Reliability of boilers varies wildly, but some engineers prefer to install boilers from brands that offer them payments, so be sure the brand of boiler benefits you, not them!
